Paula is a Partner at Simon McAleese. Paula studied law at Trinity College Dublin before qualifying as a solicitor in 1993 and as an Associate of the the Institute of Taxation in the same year.

Paula was a member of the Government's Working Group on Defamation and she is listed in the Legal 500.

She is an experienced litigator with expertise in Commercial Law, Employment, Media and Constitutional law. 

 

Paula's range of experience in media law includes advising Irish and international clients on issues ranging from defamation and contempt of court to privacy and freedom of information. Paula has acted in some of the most high profile litigation in this jurisdiction  including the first Irish media case to be taken before the European Court of Human Rights.

 

She has considerable experience of advising in relation to Tribunals of Inquiry. Her Administrative Law experience includes the procecution of judicial review proceedings in employment, criminal and contempt matters. Paula has considerable experience in Constitutional law and was part of the legal team appointed to challenge the constitutionality of the Matrimonial Home Bill when it was referred to the Supreme Court by the President of Ireland pursuant to Section 26 of the Irish Constitution.

 

Paula's professional memberships include the Incorporated Law Society, the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association, the Media Society and the Institute of Taxation of Ireland.

 

Paula also lectures on ecommerce law in the Law Society of Ireland.
